  • 10 Entertaining Essentials

Entertaining is one of my favorite things. My husband and I decided early in our marriage that we wanted to open our home to family and friends regularly. Over the last nearly 20 years, we have hosted countless birthday parties, baby showers, wedding showers, dinner parties, and small dinners for the people we love. Our goal is not to impress, but to make people feel welcome in our home and encourage deeper conversations and a sense of community. I love this part of our lives, and as you can imagine, we’ve built up a supply of entertaining essentials that make it easy to host a gathering—even on short notice. With…

  • California Roll Sushi Bowls

This week’s recipe is another family favorite: California Roll Sushi Bowls. I hesitated calling this a “recipe.” It’s really more of an idea that takes the California rolls we all love and turns them into an easy weeknight dinner that requires very little cooking. My family loves sushi, and during Covid (out of necessity), we learned how to make our own California rolls. While it was a lot of fun, it can also be quite a bit of work to assemble the rolls. These sushi bowls combine the yummy flavor of California rolls, but eliminate the hard labor. I use fresh lump crab because Costco usually carries it, but you…

  • Friday Four- 2.23.24

Happy Friday! I feel like this week just flew by, and I’m in disbelief that March is just around the corner. Spring tends to move quickly in our house—three kids means so many activities. My daughter is graduating from high school in May, and I’m drying to delight in every moment with her and our family of five. If you’re new here, the Friday Four is a weekly series where I share four things that brought me joy this week. ONE: Fresh flowers. I love fresh flowers, and I keep them on my kitchen island all year. On Sunday, I snagged some $8 tulips from Costco. I buy these every…

  • Pretty Dresses for Spring

Are you ready for warmer weather? Today, I’ve rounded up some pretty dresses for spring, and thankfully, we’re having spring-like weather in Dallas. I love wearing dresses because they’re easy. I don’t have to think about pairing a top and bottom and can just throw on a dress and feel comfortable and chic. I’ve shared some of these dresses on Instagram recently. Follow along and take a peek at my Stories or highlights (Fashion and Try Ons). I share real-time “fit checks” because I know sometimes pictures don’t tell the whole story. For size reference, I’m 5’7” and usually wear a small or extra-small in tops and dresses. Maxi Dress…

  • Baked Chicken Taquitos

Another week, and another recipe for you. These Baked Chicken Taquitos are my son’s favorite. If I ask him for meal planning suggestions, he won’t hesitate to add these to our menu. The filling on these is so flavorful, and I serve them with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. Chicken Taquitos 2 cooked chicken breasts, finely diced (rotisserie chicken works well) 1 cup shredded cheese 3 T finely diced onion 2 T finely chopped cilantro 1.5 t ground cumin 1 t salt Grapeseed, avocado, or veggie oil for frying 24 corn tortillas Fresh salsa, guacamole, and sour cream for serving Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a sheet pan…

  • Friday Four- 2.16.24

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you had a good week. This week was unusual because I had a work trip mid-week. Pre-Covid, I traveled frequently and am so glad those days are over. Thankfully, our calendar is pretty clear this weekend, and I’m looking forward to catching up on family time. Before we get to that, here are some things that brought me joy this week. ONE: Valentine’s Day. Because I was out of town, we celebrated the day before with a restaurant-style dinner, and it was DELICIOUS. On the menu: simple seared scallops, a warm spinach and corn salad, mushroom risotto, and baked chocolate pudding. The risotto and chocolate…

  • Love for J.Crew Jeans

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m heading out on a work trip today, so we had our traditional V-Day dinner last night, and I’ll surprise my teens with Valentine’s candy, chocolates, and cards before they leave for school today. As for my husband, we decided against V-Day gifts long ago, but I still got flowers and a box of my favorite chocolates. And because we’re celebrating the day of love, I’m sharing my love for J.Crew jeans. I really like skinny jeans, but as expected, styles change. These days call for boot cut, straight, and wide leg jeans, and I really needed an upgrade. While certain designer jeans are nice, I hate…
